View of Harberton (4).
Postmarked 1911, a view of the village from the
south. Looking north, to the right of the church tower, the outline of Tristford
House and to the right of this its formal gardens are just discernible on the
original (with a magnifying glass). The
wooded slopes (known to include chestnut, and laurel planted for game cover) on the hilltop beyond the tower are quite noticeable - today, apart
from the strip of woodland (snowdrop walk) between
West Lodge and Gills Cross, these fields are open and cultivated.
