Only SW venue on this tour. Box office 01271 324242

16-18 October 2008 - Horses Brawl, Early Music - various village halls
Unusual use of traditional instruments to explore medieval, renaissance, baroque and folk traditions. Laura Cannell and Adrian Lever play an array of instruments. Recorders, fiddle, crumhorns, guitar and bowed guitar are among them. Both musicians love to experiment and find new ways of making sounds, using all of their instruments they produce contemporary arrangements with vivacity and verve. They re-work, re-compose and re-ignite the traditions for a modern audience but never lose the heart of their instruments. Laura and Adrian create some truly interesting and arresting sounds, modern yet traditional at the same time.

13-15 November 2008 - Omar Puente & Robert Mitchell - 'Bridges'
Two fine musicians, regular support for Courtney Pine “Energetic, fast flowing improvising from two of the most imaginative Jazz players on the scene”, is how Jazzwise magazine described the collaboration between these two fine musicians. The distinctive British pianist Robert Mitchell and Cuban violin virtuoso Omar Puente have a charming and disarming way of dispelling the myth that some genres of music are ‘highbrow’ and exclusive. With a natural gift for audience rapport their highly acclaimed recent album, ‘Bridges’, covers a wide range of musical ground, taking in not only Jazz and Cuban music, but also overt classical influences. Both Omar and Robert have impressive musical pedigrees, too long to relate here, but being invited to support Courtney Pine says it all in a nutshell.
