D'Accord is a dance club specialising in French and Breton dance at Ide Village Hall, Ide, near Exeter, generally the third Friday of every month, 8 to 11.30pm. Dancers and musicians welcome.
The main contacts are Pat Tomkins on 01392 811593 and Martin Henning on 01837 83347. The club can also be contacted by email at d_accord@tiscali.co.uk.
The club has a House Band of very talented musicians who play wonderful authentic French & Breton music for dancing. The club is a Dance Club, so although musicians are not discouraged, they must be aware that it is not a "session". The evening is structured to a mix of French & Breton Dances and the Band practice regularly. Musicians are welcome but must liase with Martin Henning who is the band leader. More about the band (with pictures) on Flaxey Green.
Carrie/Pat teach the dances for the first hour, with different dances taught each evening. It is not necessary to have a partner, many regulars do not and newcomers are encouraged to 'have a go'. The music plays for dancing for the rest of the evening.
More French dance - Le Bal Folk - happens at Harbertonford, near Totnes, on the first Friday of every month. Call Roger and Louise Scammell on 01803 732269 for more information.
